Story by Marty Nunez

On Saturday September 13th, 356 Group Northwest, held it's last driving event of the season.  The Whidbey
Island Back roads tour was an outstanding finish, to an already exceptional summer of 356 tours and events.

Paul and Marianne Hatfield planned out the perfect 356 driving tour of Whidbey Island.  I'm sure when
Paul was planning out the routes earlier this year, he had no idea what a beautiful day it would turn out to be.

The 356 Group NW, gathered at the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry dock, for a short trip across the water to Whidbey island.  Even before boarding, the cars were drawing the attention of curious passengers.  Once we landed, we were off and driving through beautiful twisting roads, surrounded by the incredible country side of Whidbey Island.

Our first stop, was in the quaint little town of Langley, where we were officially welcomed by the mayor.  After enjoying some wonderful shops and restaurants, we were off and driving again.  It was quite a site to see twelve 356's in line, winding through turns and going up and down hills in unison. Marianne brought up the rear in her beautiful black 911.  We took a short break at Greenbank Farm for some wine and cheese tasting, then we headed for Coupeville.

The historical town of Coupeville, was where we stopped for lunch.  It was another wonderful little waterside town, with turn of the century buildings, shops, and homes.

Thanks again to Paul and Marianne, for hosting a great day of 356 touring on Whidbey Island.  My wife Suzanne and I had a wonderful time, as I'm sure all who joined us did.
